What is a tracking parameter?
A URL can include a query string after a question mark. Sites use some query parameters for essential behavior, such as a search term, page number or document identifier. Others are commonly added to measure where a click came from. Examples include names beginning with utm_ and keys such as fbclid or gclid.
This cleaner removes a small, explicit list of commonly used campaign keys. It leaves every other query part in its original order and encoding, and preserves the path and fragment. That conservative approach matters: deleting every query parameter can break a search result, filter, session-specific view or deep link.
How to use it
- Paste a full link beginning with
https://orhttp://. The tool will not visit that destination. - Read the list of recognized keys that were removed. If none appear, the resulting link may be unchanged.
- Copy the cleaned text. Before sharing, make sure the host and visible page still match what you intended.
For example, https://example.org/read?id=42&utm_source=mail#details becomes https://example.org/read?id=42#details. The id value remains because it may identify the content; the #details fragment remains because it may point to a section.
Limits of a cleaned link
Removing these query keys is not a privacy guarantee. A destination can measure visits through other means, and other analytics keys may not be recognized. A short link or redirect can introduce new parameters after the link is opened. Some sites depend on campaign keys for their own workflow; if the cleaned link does not lead to the intended page, use the original after verifying the destination.
Credentials placed before an @ sign are omitted from the displayed result. Never paste a private password, access token or signed private link into a public form. If a link contains sensitive information, avoid sharing either version.

Does this make an unsafe site safe?
No. It changes a text string, not the destination or its operator. Use the link inspector for structural clues and an independent source to verify identity.
Why keep unknown parameters?
The cleaner cannot know whether an unfamiliar key is needed for navigation. Keeping it avoids silently changing the meaning of the link.
